Self-Sufficiency at Elements

A constant supply of fresh produce has been made possible by the community garden group at Elements Retirement Village. Our community decided to make use of a natural sun-trap at the edge of the village and create a working veggie plot. In Elements fashion, once the decision had been made all hands got together and before you could say ‘tomato’, a number of large raised beds had been constructed. Well protected from local bush wildlife and with its own water supply, the Elements veggie patch is now growing strong.

Naturally, all of our residents are invited to lend a hand and enjoy the results! Although most of our homes have their own outside spaces, there’s nothing like helping out at the Elements ‘allotment’, where like-minded, self-sufficient residents can get together for a chat over the beanpoles. Our gorgeous Brisbane weather means a long season of fresh salad and veg, while the many hands ensure our produce gets the best care and attention possible. Our group of dedicated gardeners are always happy to welcome new residents to the team. We also get together to swap seeds and seedlings, try out new or exotic varieties, and share our knowledge, rain or shine!

Want to see our new vegetable garden for yourself? Or explore the workshop, crafts club or Zen garden? Book a tour today and come to see why Elements is Brisbane’s best-loved retirement village!
