Life in our Village

Life in the Elements Retirement Village has been as fulfilling as ever this month. The workshop team put together a set of scent detection boxes for internationally renowned dog trainer Craig A. Murray, as well as providing extra shelving for the library and a gavel for community meetings. Not to mention initial constructions for a garden BBQ area for members of our community. In between all of this hard work, the workshop annex also hosted a darts and hookey tournament.

Residents have also been busy in their gardens, creating sometimes quirky and comic features to brighten up the day of everyone who walks by. We have had many visitors from the nearby bush, including curlews, parrots, and scarlet honey eaters. One of our resident’s plastic kookaburra had a number of villagers fooled!

At Elements, we believe in protecting our planet, and this has led to various steps to reduce our carbon footprint. This month, with vegetable plot already producing fresh produce, we decided to hold a garden-themed Swap Buy Sell afternoon – a great way to exchange gardening tools, cuttings, ornaments, pots and seeds, making sure everything is recycled and nothing is thrown away.
