Our Response To COVID-19

RESIDENTS of Elements at Springwood are looking forward to celebrating the village’s 10th anniversary in style, as Covid-19 restrictions begin to ease. They responded quickly when the lockdowns began and implemented all mandatory measures. However, it did not shut the village to the outside world – there was no security sentry at gates and residents continued to make daily decisions while adhering to the new regime.
With the temporary closure of community facilities, inhouse health activities ceased but luckily the 5ha village grounds are home to beautiful gardens and residents began to take many walks. The more adventurous paired up to walk in the adjoining 450ha Daisy Hill Conservation Park. The two hour return trip is a testament to their agility and fitness.
Elements iPads became a way of life for residents three years ago and as early adopters of technology, residents quickly adapted to staying in touch with family and friends. Online shopping was soon popular. Regular meetings were held via Zoom with more than 60 residents in attendance. As one resident says, “we retire from work, we do not retire from life.”
