Remembrance Day at Elements

The centenary of the final day of the Great War at Elements was, as always, a time of gratitude, respect and remembrance of those that gave their lives in the 1914 – 1918 war. The Elements Community also used this quiet day to send our thoughts to members of our Elements community who left this life in the last twelve months.

Many of our residents had fathers or grandfathers who fought during the Great War. Australians the world over recognize place names such as Rabaul, Toma, Gallipoli and Hamel. Ten percent of the Australian population crossed the oceans, more than 60,000 of them killed. Naturally, Elements residents are proud to do their part to ensure these brave men are remembered.

Remembrance Day is also honoured in other ways at the Elements Retirement Village. Our Craft and Chat knitters helped make poppies for the huge exhibit in 2012. Thanks to the original display, knitters from all over the world now create their own displays for Armistice Day.  Residents have also been taken on a trip to Albany, WA to tour the National Anzac Centre.

Elements Retirement Village is always arranging daily, weekly, monthly and annual activities for its residents. Expand your horizons, your knowledge and your creativity at Elements Retirement Community in Brisbane.
