The National Council of Women of Queensland held their 2012 President’s dinner at the United Services Club on the 21st March. Chiou See Anderson, who is the Adviser on Ageing, was one of the key members of the organising committee and together with President Mrs Noela O’Donell, successfully incorporated a theme for the event based on diversity in our community.
“Having the residents and friends of Elements to celebrate this fantastic show of community unity and for Gwen (one of our residents) to win the raffle prize of 6 bottles of D’Arenberg Grenache just made our village outing that much more enjoyable,” Chiou See said
During the dinner, there were numerous opportunities for the members of the Council to provide interesting and often enlightening insight into the various cultures and guests were entertained with an Indian cultural dance, a couple of Greek songs accompanied with impromptu dancing by the Greek ladies in attendance.
“Our dinner emotionally and aptly concluded with all guests joining in the chorus of “I am Australian”. It was a wonderful evening and an important reminder to members of the Council that we now represent a wide and diverse group of women who are all Australians,” Chiou See stated.
