Chinese New Year – a calendar highlight and annual tradition at Elements. As always, the community centre was full to bursting with residents, family, friends and the traditional lion dancers.
The dress code for this colourful event – anything goes, as long as it’s red! Over the years we’ve added our own Elements traditions, like the Matriarch – our oldest resident – handing out gifts to delighted grandchildren. We also hold raffles, the proceeds of which help out three of our supported charities (chosen each year by our residents). After all, it’s only right we share our good fortune with others.
Many residents help staff and pitch in at the festivities, meaning this time we had our own personal MC, an in-house videographer and photographer, and a selection of tasty Chinese food (including hand-made spring rolls) cooked up fresh on the day by our dedicated kitchen team. Elements ushered in Chinese New Year with a lucky lion dance. Traditionally, the longer the dance the luckier the community – so we made sure they kept on going. After all, the lucky lion dance has worked like a charm every year at Elements. Yet another hugely successful event!
