It’s been about 1600 years since St Patrick left this earth, and people have been celebrating this final day for the last 300 of them. Elements has always done its bit to keep this tradition going, and in our lush green surroundings with a community that loves to celebrate any occasion, this annual calendar event never fails to impress.
Anything Irish was the theme. However, at Elements there’s always a twist and the ‘mystery performer’ – a Flamenco guitar player – hardly seemed out of place at all! Stuffed with pies, potatoes and mushy peas (so popular they ran out), Elements residents, family members and friends settled back for a show, attired in various shades of emerald. The entertainment was led by a troupe of professional Irish Dancers who later gave an impromptu lesson, which naturally led to a giggle or two. The Elements community were then brought to the edge of tears by a selection of haunting Irish ballads performed by our in-house Ukulele and Singing groups. A cracking day with enough time to attend the parade in downtown Brisbane – the ideal opportunity for our residents to try out their newly-learned kicks and trots.
An Elements St Patricks celebration wouldn’t be the same without a raffle. Many of the prizes required a corkscrew and were consumed as the party went on with that special, Elements community spirit St Patrick himself would have been proud to be a part of.
