Ms Val French AM, Patron of Elements Living presented a $1,000 bursary to Ms Kimberley Elston during the National Council of Women Qld 2012 presentation ceremony at the Parliamentary Annexe in early May.
The program offers several bursaries of $1,000 each to young Queensland women to assist with their educational expenses. Several Queensland businesses and organisations including Elements sponsor the bursary program.
The National Council of Women of Queensland Inc (NCWQ), through its affiliated organisations and individual membership, promotes equality of opportunity for women and enables them to participate effectively at all levels, and in all aspects, of the life of the community. Elements is proud to be a part of the Council’s mission.
About the bursary winner Kimberley Elston
Kimberley graduated from St Monica’s Catholic College in Cairns in 2010. Currently enrolled at the University Of Queensland, she is completing a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
Kimberley is a leader of the Cairns Choral Society, which is made of mainly middle to elderly aged people. As an Occupational Therapy student, she understands the importance of social activities and learning experiences for seniors and the benefits that the Cairns Choral Society provides for their members.
Kimberley has previously volunteered at the Holy Cross Aged Care Facility at Wooloowin and have also perfomed at Christmas concerts at various retirement villages in Cairns.
Kimberley is grateful for the bursary as it would help with her work placements throughout Brisbane and assist with general costs of living away from her family.
