Elements is proud to announce the appointment of Ms Val French AM as the Patron of Elements Retirement Living.
Ms French, who is in her 80s, started out her working career as a Journalist and became one of the first women to design and teach journalism at both the Queensland Institute of Technology / Queensland University of Technology and subsequently at the University of Queensland.
As a very strong and passionate advocate of seniors and their contribution to the community, Ms French founded and remains as the President of the Older People Speak Out (OPSO) organisation.
Ms French’s achievements are impressive and they include pushing for accreditation in the retirement village industry in the mid 90s and being an Accreditation Surveyor for 10 years to ensure that retirement villages meet the needs of its residents.
In her speech during an Elements Open Day, Ms French praises Chiou See’s vision in setting out to design beautiful, functional homes for our seniors and also providing the residents with a community that embraces the values that she has been espousing during her years of active lobbying.
Staying active, both physically and mentally, is so important for a person’s well-being. There are so many ways that our seniors can help themselves. They can either volunteer in the community, be an active grand-parent and maybe even consider re-entering the workforce.
And to achieve a purposeful life, we all need strong supportive networks and Elements is truly one of those rare villages that is designed and built from a firm foundation of providing and promoting all the ingredients that will help us age successfully and purposely. To that end, it is my absolute pleasure to accept the appointment of Patron of Elements.
Village tours are available during the week from 10am to 4pm. Saturdays and Sundays are by prior arrangements. Or join us at one of our monthly open days for a cuppa and a tour.
