Elements has a wonderful mix of women and men, all enjoying living in their third age, retirement living, Elements style.
Here are a few words from one of the fellas in our community, Mr Charles Rice.
Charles shares his story, “A Happy Man In A Retirement Village”.
My name is Charles Rice and I live with my wife Marie at the Elements village at Springwood. Before we moved to Elements, we lived on a large acreage at Murwillumbah in northern NSW where we had a coffee plantation and kept native bees as a hobby.
I started my working life as an Electrical Fitter before selling office equipment and ended up manufacturing consumables for copy printing.
Moving to Elements has been one of the great joys in my life. Marie and I have made many new friends.
I am grateful for the friendship and company that Marie enjoys which leaves me ample time to really concentrate on what is a great love, only second to Marie and our 3 daughters..
You see, I was a member of the Men’s Shed at Murwillumbah for 9 years but there really wasn’t much time left after caring for the coffee plants, the swimming pool, our 4 beehives, roasting coffee beans and collecting honey!
Since moving to Elements, I have helped establish our first “Work Shed”. I love tinkering and creating and telling stories to the “youngins” and I now have more time to enjoy this passion of mine without even leaving “home”.
I enjoy the mateship amongst the residents as we discuss creative ideas, measure twice and cut once, and craft things using the various expertise and skill sets amongst us.
Come and visit me, Charles Rice, at Elements @ Springwood but call 3299 3775 first to make an appointment. I may be in the work shed 🙂
